Even though last year was the official “Women of Marvel” year, this summer has seen some very strong one-off books spotlighting Marvel women in solo tales (or what are essentially solo tales). You had Valkyrie and Black Widow issues of Secret Avengers and this last week saw the Squirrel Girl issue of New Avengers, part of the Fear Itself event.

Like the other two books that preceded it, you really don’t need to be up on the whole thing to enjoy this single issue starring Squirrel Girl which is great fun and excitement from cover to cover.
